A little bit about who we are:
Linthorpe House Dentistry & Aesthetics is the latest incarnation of the dental business that has operated in various guises for generations; since around 1972 at the Linthorpe Road site but going back generations at a former site on Borough Road. It has been Mellor and Associates, Kenefec and Mellor, Harrison, Kenefec and Mellor, Casartelli, ...
We are proud to continue as a new chapter of this long dental story.
Linthorpe House Dentistry & Aesthetics is owned by Matt Newbould and on 14th December 2018 completed the purchase of the business from former owner and retiring Jonathan Mellor.
Matt inherited an experienced team, namely Cath Carrigan & Alison Reed (Hygienist) who have been at the Practice for 40 years & 7 years respectively. Matt also brought 2 members of his original team, Carmen Robinson, who is now our practice manager and Stacey Hugill who is a dental nurse. Matt worked with Carmen and Stacey at his former Practice in Hardwick, Stockton for many years and wanted to draw upon their experience to help develop our offering at Linthorpe House. Making up the rest of the team are our dental therapist, Zoe Anderson, dentist James Hills, dental nurse Natasha Mowbray and our trainee dental nurse Evie Beattie.
Matt Newbould
Matt qualified at Newcastle University in 1995. His first job was on Parliament Road, a few hundred yards from Linthorpe House. He worked in Middlesbrough, Stokesley, West Aukland and Yarm before buying Hardwick Dental Practice in 2000 and running it successfully for many years. Matt also set up and ran with the help of Carmen, a dental service in HMP Kirklevington Grange, Yarm. Following on from this successful venture, Matt and Carmen were asked to set up a dental service in the new Roseberry Park Hospital (formerly St Lukes). This service is now run by Carmen with Barbara Ruivo Caetano(dentist) visiting to provide dental treatments to the patients residing there.
Matt spends some of his spare time watching football either suffering the exploits of Middlesbrough FC with his teenage children or watching his son Ben, who is often more successful with his team Leven Athletic U 15s
He is also a keen allotment gardener, and enjoys bringing produce in to work for the team and sometimes patients to try.
Cath Carrigan
Cath has worked at the Practice now for 40 years and is the heart of our practice. She has seen many changes over the years and seen dentists come and go. All of our patients love Cath and she treats our customers like a big family. She has seen families attend for many years and seen children grow in to adults and now they bring their own children.
Often Cath will answer the phone and recognize a patient's voice before they even say who they are.
As well as working tirelessly at the Practice, Cath devotes her spare time to her family, her church and helping others. Her Macmillan coffee mornings held at the Practice raise hundreds of pounds for charity every year.
Carmen Robinson
Carmen qualified as a dental nurse in 2007. Shortly afterwards she joined Matt at Hardwick Dental Practice in Stockton. Carmen also trained as an Oral Health Educator and then helped Matt to establish dental clinics within HMP Kirklevington Grange, Yarm and Roseberry Park Hospital, Middlesbrough. Carmen didn't hesitate in following Matt to Linthorpe House, she quickly went from head nurse and TCO to Practice manager and is enjoying her new role and the challenges and rewards it has to offer. She divides her time between work and looking after her young family.
Alison Reed
Alison started out as a dental nurse before going to Newcastle University, she qualified as a Dental Hygienist in 2003. Alison started working at the practice in 2012 alongside her other practices. She now works solely for Linthorpe House Dentistry. In her spare time she enjoys caravanning with her family, dog walks and paddle boarding. Down time is spent playing her saxophone and reading.
Stacey Hugill
Stacey started working for Matt when she left school, they worked together for 11 years before Matt bought Linthorpe House Dental Practice. He asked her to join him in his new venture as head dental nurse and lucky for us she did. She enjoys socialising with family and friends and walking. Stacey is also an amazing cook, we sometimes get to sample her dishes at lunchtimes.
Zoe Anderson
Zoe trained as a dental nurse at Teesside University and went on to become a Dental Therapist. She qualified in 2022 and started working here shortly afterwards. Zoe has gained additional training in facial aesthetics since joining the practice. She enjoys family and friend time at the beach, especially Saltburn.
Natasha Mowbray
Natasha was our first trainee dental nurse, she started in 2020 and qualified in 2022. Her energetic enthusiasm radiates throughout the practice. In her spare time she enjoys socialising with friends and family and going to the gym.
James Hills
James started at the practice on 2022, he qualified from Newcastle University in 2016. He covers all aspects of restorative dentistry with regular attendance to post graduate courses for innovative treatments. He recently started carrying out Invisalign-a revolutionary orthodontic treatment system to straighten the teeth without the need for braces. Outside of work James is an avid football fan.
Evie Beattie
Evie is our newest member of staff, she is training to become a dental nurse after leaving school. Out of work she enjoys eating out with her family and friends with the occasional visit to the gym.
